British Council Training Center was opened in the Verkhovna Rada on Thursday, where the People´s Deputies, Personnel of the Verkhovna Rada Secretariate and Assistants of the People´s Deputies have an Opportunity to Study English Language

 

 British Council Training Center was opened in the Verkhovna Rada on Thursday, where the People´s Deputies, Personnel of the Verkhovna Rada Secretariate and Assistants of the People´s Deputies have an Opportunity to Study English Language.

The Center is equipped with 13 working stations with installed British programs on them, that are oriented at the divergent levels of language comprehension, training for IELTS and Cambridge exams, grammatical excises, and programs for the enriching of the vocabulary. The collections counts manuals, students books, exercise books, country study and additional literature regarding Great Britain

 

Opening new Center, Valentyn Zaichuk, the Secretary General of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Secretariate emphasised that "all those common measures taken with the British Council possess great positive impact for Ukraine." "Opening of this long-expected Center is one of the stages aimed at the intensification of the cooperation with British Council", - he emphasised.

 

V. Zaichuk expressed sincere gratitude to the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Great Britain to Ukraine Mr. Lee Turner. "This training center is a big step on the way of the improvement and language education, which is supposed to facilitate the strengthening of the cooperation between Ukraine and Great Britain", - the Secretary General of the Secretariate indicated.

 

In his turn, Mr. Lee Turner declared that the opening of the Center is a remarkable event, taking into the consideration the fact the Great Britain Parliament deems Ukraine as a European country. According to his words, it proves that for Ukrainian development it is extremely essential the People´s Deputies, Personnel of the Verkhovna Rada Secretariate and Assistants of the People´s Deputies speak English fluently.

 

The Ambassador extraordinary and Plenipotentiary is also convinced that Ukraine would join the European Union soon "as the most democratic country of its region and as a leading state in the framework of mass media liberty and freedom of speech." "Thus we pay special attention to the words of your President regarding the preserving of the democracy and freedom of speech principles. As far as these principles will be obliged in Ukraine, we will support Ukraine to develop as a democratic state", - the Ambassador proclaimed.

 

In the opening of the center too part: Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Great Britain to Ukraine Mr. Lee Turner, Michael Bird, Regional Director of the British Council, mass media representatives.

A Director of the British Council of Ukraine expressed gratitude for the assistance and  awarded with the Diplomas of Honour Valentyn Zaichuk, the Secretary General of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Secretariate, K. Tretiak, Manager of the Inter-Parliamentary Liaison Office and O. Sydorenko, Head of the Computer Systems Office of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Secretariate.
